Baseball’s Ultimate Training Program (UTP) combines
Coach Lawrence’s 25 years of experience as both a baseball player
and coach with his years of teaching experience and continued education
through coaching organizations, conferences and research to enable serious
young baseball players in reaching their goals. The UTP is designed to provide young players with a specifically developed training environment that will help them reach each level of baseball play. From youth programs to high school to college to the minor league and ultimately the majors, players must hone their skills both physically and mentally. Coach Lawrence views the program as the ideal way to work with individual players and prepare them for their future in baseball. The most critical component of this program is that Coach Lawrence will be working directly with a small group of four-to-six players, giving them the focus needed to create the best training program for each player. This small group size enables one-on-one training as well as group exercises to reinforce teamwork. The Ultimate Training Program was developed to educate today’s baseball player in all areas of the game, skills, mental preparation, weight training, speed improvement, care and prevention of injury, health maintenance and performance. The program is designed for players 10 years or older and is designed as a 6-week program of nine hours per week (three days) during the summer (late June, July and August). This commitment will provide clear benefits in the development of each player’s abilities as well as a consistent, rigorous routine. It is a rigorous process to produce a talented, educated, well-rounded athlete. The UTP will entail multiple training techniques to develop both overall athletic and specific baseball skills. While the focus is on baseball skills, there are many other skills any athlete requires to become an ultimate player. Each session will provide training on maintaining technique and execution of each player’s baseball skills (i.e hitting, pitching, catcher’s play, or specific field position). Video will document many of the exercises and players will be evaluated on a regular basis to demonstrate improvement. Players will then perform various forms of physical conditioning: weight training, yoga, speed training, plymetics, agility exercises or aqua training (working muscles in a heated pool, the water acts as an equal force with the physical movement and is less stressful on the joints). The last part of each session will consist of group and individual discussions to include: - Review of training videos to evaluate progress and identify areas of improvement - Strategies and approaches to baseball play in stressful and non-stressful situations - The Commitment and focus it takes to compete and be successful in each level of baseball play and how that can be applied to overall life situations (making good decisions; being self motivated; remaining in a positive state of mind) - Taking care of minor injuries and recognizing them from injuries that may be serious. It is important that players know their own bodies and not ignore signs that could help them. - Good health habits – sleep, eating, diet, water - How academics plays a vital role in the athletic development process, not only as part of becoming a good high-school or college player, but how it affects us as educated individuals in society. The 9er Baseball Ultimate Training Program is always designed to be age appropriate and developmentally sound. It is very important that parents are involved in understanding all of the training and information that will be used and discussed. Parents will play a very important role in each player’s development and will be critical to success. An open line of communication will exist throughout. Enrollment in the Ultimate Training Program will involve an interview with each player, as well as their parents, to determine the specific needs of each athlete and their commitment to baseball. References of players (and their parents) that Coach Lawrence has trained are available upon request. The fee for the 6 week Ultimate Training Program is $3,000 ($500 per week). The program can also be complimented throughout the year with private training sessions available at $200 per hour. NOW AVAILABLE!
